Middle School Learning Resource Substitute Teacher

Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (HIES) is seeking a Middle School Learning Resource Substitute Teacher beginning in November 2024. HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish day school in the country, offering a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade. HIES is located north of downtown Atlanta between I-75 and GA 400.

The Learning Resource Teacher is primarily responsible for providing curriculum and study skills support for students with learning differences in the Middle School. Previous teaching experience with students with learning disabilities is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a warm, engaging demeanor and the ability to relate to adolescents in both a small group and one-on-one setting. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills and be adept at using technology to support student learning.

Skills and Abilities

• Identify, select and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles and accommodations.

• Assess changing curricular needs and offer specific plans for student improvement.

• Maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s code of conduct.

• Provide an engaging and positive learning environment that encourages student success.

Typical Duties

• Collaborate with learning resource teachers to plan instructional activities.

• Communicate with teachers consistently regarding instructional planning and assessments.

• Communicate regularly with parents, students, and colleagues regarding student concerns and progress.

Educational and Other Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.

• Experience as a learning specialist, or working with students with ADHD and learning disabilities, preferred.

• Private school experience preferred.

• Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing, and safety training required.
