Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (HIES) is seeking a Lower School Innovation & Digital Learning Specialist. The Innovation & Digital Learning Specialist reports to the Lower School Principal and works directly with grade level teachers and co-curriculars to design and facilitate engaging learning experiences. The program integrates design thinking, maker education, computational thinking, and digital literacy while supporting responsible, ethical, and balanced technology use.
This full-time teaching role supports a Lower School program that emphasizes creativity, design thinking, and responsible technology use through hands-on, student-centered learning experiences. Students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills while building foundational competencies in emerging technologies, digital citizenship, and ethical innovation. The program fosters curiosity, collaboration, and student agency while promoting a balanced and developmentally appropriate approach to technology.
HIES is the largest Episcopal parish day school in the country, offering a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade. The school is located north of downtown Atlanta between I-75 and GA 400.
Typical Duties
Design and teach innovation and digital learning experiences using robotics, iPads, maker tools, programming platforms, and emerging technologies.
Provide hands-on learning that promotes creativity, inquiry, collaboration, and real-world problem solving.
Teach developmentally appropriate technology skills that foster student agency and responsible technology use.
Implement a technology curriculum that includes:
digital citizenship and online safety
age-appropriate artificial intelligence awareness and responsible use
coding and computational thinking
robotics and engineering design
media creation and communication
internet literacy and research skills
digital portfolios and reflection
Facilitate design thinking experiences emphasizing empathy, ideation, prototyping, and iteration.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate technology across disciplines.
Support faculty in purposeful and developmentally appropriate technology integration.
Maintain innovation lab resources, devices, and learning platforms.
Communicate student progress effectively with students, parents, and faculty.
Demonstrate innovation, creativity, and professional growth in emerging educational technologies.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in education, STEM, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
